About the Client

The Client is a US-headquartered international company of about 300 employees, with expertise in commercial and residential real estate development.

Disparate Data Stood in the Way of Comprehensive Financial Reporting

Aiming to gain deeper insight into its business, the Client wanted to establish comprehensive financial reporting. Instead of disparate data unsuitable for analysis and informed decision-making, the Client wanted an efficient reporting tool built on aggregated data.

A Power BI Analytics Platform on a Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse

During the project, INNERLUXES's BI implementation team — a data analyst, a database developer, and a senior BI developer — delivered the following:

  • A data warehouse based on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • ETL using Python.
  • Data integration from about 40 sources.
  • Data cleaning and merging.
  • An analytical cube with 15 dimensions and 30 measures.
  • Integrated financial and analytical reports and dashboards based on Power BI.

Because the Client needed a comprehensive financial analysis, INNERLUXES developed reports to analyze the following indicators:

  • Income
  • Operating expenses
  • Net operating income
  • Net profit
  • Operating cash flow
  • Change in cash
  • Current assets
  • Fixed assets
  • Current liabilities
  • Long-term liabilities

To give the Client an overall picture and help it spot trends, INNERLUXES also delivered the following dashboards and consolidated reports:

  • Balance Sheet
  • Cash at the end of the period
  • Current assets and liabilities
  • Income
  • Expenses
  • Cash flow
  • Net profit

The reports show data for both the entire company and the individual branches. In addition, any attribute can be chosen to filter the data, including the hierarchy of branches, accounts, and dates.

17 Reports and 5 Dashboards for a 360-Degree Financial View

At the end of the project, 17 reports (with different levels of detail) and 5 dashboards let the Client view the aggregated financial data from any perspective and better understand its business. The Client was also able to analyze cash flow, spot trends, and react quickly to a changing environment.
