Handy Cycling App for Route Planning

An IT company wanted to build an application for travel and recreational agencies that would advertise popular bike routes, give cyclists information on local sights, and let them communicate with one another — but its team lacked the capacity to deliver. INNERLUXES built the iOS app, letting cyclists browse routes and sights, plan rides with a smart route finder, capture route photos and points of interest, and share their routes with other users.

About the Client

The Client is an IT company that wanted to build an application for various travel and recreational agencies.

The Challenge

The Client needed to develop an application to advertise popular bike routes, give cyclists information on local sights, and provide a way for them to communicate with each other. However, the Client's team didn't have enough capacity to bring the project to life.

The Solution

With deep experience in application development, INNERLUXES created an iOS app that allows cyclists to view available routes and sights and to share information with other users.

Route-related features:

• The main menu displays a list of routes under different categories: 'most popular', 'new', etc.
• The smart route finder allows searching for routes by name, category, and location. The result can be displayed on a map showing all the found routes' tracks.
• A quick overview of routes gives information such as proximity, length, bumpiness, and rating; personal routes are highlighted.
• A single route view draws the map of one selected route.
• Route pictures — if a user takes a picture of the route, it is automatically attached to the route description and saved as a custom point of interest in the user's profile.
• Points of interest (or targets) can be set, marked on the route, and shown to the user as they proceed, with information offered on each.
• Groups of routes ('recommended', 'brand-related') are created for the brand on the website and configured in the app.
• Audio guides can be purchased directly from the application.
• A rating system asks users to rate route quality.
• The app uses sensors to estimate road conditions by recording vibrations and shocks.

Sharing features: users can complete registration on the corresponding web server right in the application and share their routes with other users.

The Results

• The joint work of the Client's and INNERLUXES's teams resulted in the successful delivery and integration of the developed application.
