The Client

The client operates a web-based service that lets website visitors securely manage their personal or business assets from Amazon cloud storage — accessible anywhere with connectivity. In essence, its document management software automates the manual record-keeping practices its customers want to eliminate from their everyday processes.

The Challenge

UI/UX can make or break a service: no matter how capable the offering, customers routinely abandon brands due to poor end-user performance. The client engaged INNERLUXES after identifying a lapse in website functionality — it needed to optimize its front end so it paralleled its back-end document-management software. INNERLUXES was tasked with engineering an aesthetically pleasing, brand-cohesive UX to attract and retain customers.

Choosing the Stack

Before kickoff, requirements were clearly defined and extensively discussed. INNERLUXES and the client chose Drupal 7 — a stable, widely adopted version with a comprehensive developer toolbox of built-in modules for payments, email campaigns, and subscriptions — allowing third-party extensions to be customized to the client's specific needs. The client's vision depended on a complex set of programming requirements: a website where visitors could sign up and upload their assets as images, video, or documents.

Rethinking the User Hierarchy

To organize the moving parts, INNERLUXES created a user hierarchy segmenting users into members, admins, and super admins. All user journeys begin with account setup: visitors become members by signing up through a registration form that prompts for basic information (username, email, password, and notifications), and member benefits are listed on the homepage. After signing up, a profile is created and members access the document management software through their membership — creating new items and uploading media, accessing previously uploaded documents, customizing categorization, and managing reminders and membership plans from a personalized dashboard of folders and subsections. All documents are stored on Amazon cloud.

Admins operate under super-admin permission. From the admin layer, they manage webpage content for front-end maintenance — adjusting FAQ and other landing pages — edit membership plans, and export user data into Excel, PDF, or CSV. The platform also surfaces user-trend insights to guide the client's strategy, and the front end updates automatically once admins finalize changes.
