Summary

A German software product company wanted a multilingual online customer center that lets a hotel's customers book conference rooms and plan events. INNERLUXES built the web application — a full booking system with a configurator for planning events and reserving rooms and halls, add-on services such as catering and equipment, event management, role-based access, and integration with the hotel's property management system for booking requests. The project was completed across two iterations.

About the Client

The Client is a German software product company.

An Online Customer Center for Booking Conference Rooms

The Client wanted to build a multilingual online customer center for a hotel, through which customers could book conference rooms to hold events. One of its components is a configurator that supports large customers in planning an event and booking the facilities they need, such as rooms and conference halls, with the whole customer center delivered as a web application. The project's goals were to:

  • Provide a fully fledged booking system.
  • Let users book additional services such as catering and equipment.
  • Let users manage previously registered events — change them, save them, and reuse them.
  • Implement a log-in/log-out security feature.
  • Manage users' access to application modules with permission technology.
  • Connect the solution to a third-party hotel system used for event booking requests.
  • Deliver a web application compatible with the browsers in use at the time.

A Modular Java/Spring Web Application

INNERLUXES built the solution from several modules, including an event booking module and a hotel-database integration module that connects to the hotel's property management system. The core technology is Spring, with the application built in Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA, a JSP front end, and extensive use of JavaScript and jQuery to realize the application's features.

A Completed, Two-Iteration Delivery

  • The project was divided into two iterations; the first development iteration finished on time.
  • The second iteration delivered a number of additional, non-critical features.
  • The project was successfully completed.
