Ready-to-Install HR Management Product Based on SharePoint
Summary
A software vendor wanted to add a packaged HR management product to its catalogue — one that small enterprises could install on Microsoft SharePoint and use straight away. INNERLUXES built the system on SharePoint Foundation 2010, covering employee data, leave, travel, expenses and assets, with customizable widgets, an organization chart, and a custom .NET security model that lets administrators manage access without a SharePoint administrator.
About the Client
The Client is a European company providing consulting, development, and implementation of software solutions for business process management.
A Vendor Needed a Ready-to-Install HR Product for Small Enterprises on SharePoint
The Client wanted to extend its offering with an HR management system built on top of Microsoft SharePoint to cover the basic HR needs of small enterprises. From the outset, the Client stressed that document management had to be integrated into the product rather than bolted on afterwards.
An HR Management System on SharePoint Foundation With a Custom Security Model
Drawing on its SharePoint development and consulting expertise, INNERLUXES used SharePoint Foundation 2010 to build a system that stores, tracks, and exchanges employee-related information — including vacations, leaves, travel, tasks, and assets — and automates basic HR processes such as approving leave requests and registering travel, expenses, and time. The product delivers:
- A customizable home page with widgets for birthdays, anniversaries, and an absences and vacations calendar; users can add or remove components, including those from other SharePoint applications.
- A one-click registration widget for creating activities such as absence, vacation, time, and travel from a single icon.
- An organization chart giving an overview of the whole company, with the employee list and departments; users can sort, filter, search, and build their own lists (for example, by competence) and export any list to Microsoft Excel.
- Rich employee profiles with custom fields covering status, location, and competences, plus attached documents and event history.
- A custom security model built with the .NET Assembly Connector, going beyond standard functionality so access rights can be managed without a SharePoint administrator.
The whole product was given a near-native SharePoint look and feel, so users would find it familiar from the first day.
An HR Automation Product Added to the Client's SharePoint Offering

- End users gained HR management automation integrated directly into their own SharePoint environments.
