Summary
A supplier of navigation and location services for handsets and other mobile devices needed to support and enhance its mapping/navigation software, targeted to Symbian OS-based phones and Maemo-based UMPCs. As a strategic outsourcing supplier, INNERLUXES enhanced the app and, over four months, delivered new versions across multiple Symbian and Maemo platforms, successfully adopted to market.
About the Client
The Client is a supplier of navigation and location services for handsets and other mobile devices, providing a range of innovative services and products.
The Challenge
The Client needed to support and enhance mapping/navigation software. The application targeted Symbian OS-based mobile phones and Maemo-based UMPCs.
The Solution
INNERLUXES was chosen as a strategic outsourcing supplier for the project. A group of onsite lead developers visited INNERLUXES to transfer knowledge for specific parts of the product, walk through the project processes, and clarify requirements for the next iterations.
The system developed by INNERLUXES shows preloaded vector maps, indicates current position information from integrated or external GPS receivers, and provides routing and navigation services with voice guidance. The solution also receives up-to-date information about traffic conditions and the locations of speed cameras by updating data over an internet connection.
The Results
- For four months, the INNERLUXES mobile team developed new versions of the navigator for Symbian S60, S80, and UIQ3, and for the Nokia Internet Tablet (Linux Maemo).
- The latest version of the product was successfully delivered to the Client and adopted.
- The developed app is on the market and contributes to the Client's services.
