UI Redesign of a Mobile Banking App for iOS and Android

Summary

A private bank's mobile banking app for iOS and Android had grown in functionality to the point where its existing UX and UI could no longer keep up. INNERLUXES delivered a complete UI redesign — usability testing and a detailed functionality specification, light and dark UI versions for both platforms aligned with the bank's brand guidelines, and a six-month Scrum implementation — giving the app a design that highlights its powerful functionality and can evolve without constraints.

About the Client

The Client is a major private bank. INNERLUXES had earlier built the bank's mobile banking app for Android and iOS, which was warmly welcomed by users on release.

The Challenge

As the app's functionality kept expanding, it could no longer match the existing UX and UI design. The Client therefore requested a complete mobile app redesign.

The Solution

Once INNERLUXES's business analyst received the UX prototypes from the Client, she performed usability testing and prepared a specification with detailed functionality requirements, which laid the groundwork for the UI designer. The UI designer was tasked with creating "light" and "dark" UI versions for both Android and iOS while adhering to the Client's brand guidelines.

In three months, the finished UI design was handed over to development. For the next three months, two iOS developers and two Android developers worked on implementing the redesign in accordance with the Scrum methodology.

The Results

• The Client obtained a UI design that helps highlight the powerful functionality of its banking app.
