Web App for Dental Practice Management Support

INNERLUXES developed a comprehensive web application for a healthcare consulting firm — facilitating patient and provider management, billing, reporting, and payroll automation — with an emphasis on security, scalability, and user-friendly design.

The Client

The Client is a dental practice management consulting company whose mission is to provide non-clinical support services to dental practices. The Client engaged INNERLUXES to create a web application to manage patients and providers, billing data, and patient data, with the ability to review reports and payroll modules. INNERLUXES built a web solution offering features such as user management and integration with Open Dental (a dental practice management software). The Client needed automation, scalability, workflow improvements, performance reports, and dashboards, plus payroll automation integrated with Open Dental.

The Approach

INNERLUXES began by setting up the existing application in its development environment, establishing database connectivity, and examining the source code to understand the project flow. Next, INNERLUXES created a mock-up design based on the existing content, and after client approval built an HTML design and integrated the new design into the application so the Client can seamlessly manage its workflows.

How It Works

Functional requirements:

• A primary login page with unique logins for each user for secure access.
• Sidebar navigation for easy access to new modules as they are added.
• An internal notification system for communication among users.
• Role-based security distinguishing Admin, General User, Provider, and Accounting roles, each with specific access rights, plus admin/settings functions to add/remove users and change/reset passwords.
• Extensible modules including company news/announcements, a customizable start page, standard and custom reporting, RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) tools, payroll automation, performance management, and learning resources.

Non-functional requirements:

• Secure access from outside the centralized network, available on all standard browsers (Chrome, Safari, MS Edge, Firefox), with 99%+ availability.
• A modern, adaptable, intuitive, and consistent UI across all modules, with transaction processing optimized for efficiency.
• Customizable branding to meet the Client's needs, and least-privilege access so individual providers' Personally Identifiable Information (PII) remains inaccessible to users who don't require it.
• Audit logs recording access and changes for monitoring and auditing.

Verification

The application login page requires user credentials (email and password) supplemented by Captcha verification, with a forgot-password reset flow. Upon successful authentication, users are redirected to the dashboard — a centralized hub for all modules, including user management (adding and listing users, adding roles) with capabilities to update and delete roles.
